Chan School of Public Health in Boston, and co-authors.<\/p>\n<div id=\"adSlot1\" class=\"ad-slot ad box-ad rendered-ad-slot\" data-pos=\"body\" data-slot=\"box2\" data-refreshable-ad=\"true\"><iframe id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/4213\/medpagetoday\/neurology\/\/dementia_2\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The relationship remained significant after adjusting for diet quality, including adherence to a Mediterranean diet, and after accounting for <em>APOE<\/em>4 gene status, the researchers reported in <em>JAMA Network Open<\/em><span class=\"screen-readers-only\">opens in a new tab or window<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Replacing 5 g (about 1 teaspoon) of margarine and mayonnaise with the equivalent amount of olive oil daily was associated with an 8-14% lower risk of dementia mortality, they noted.
